Mineral Information

Minerals are inorganic nutrients that the body uses to perform essential functions within the body. They are split into two categories, macrominerals and microminerals. 

 

Macrominerals include magnesium and calcium. Macrominerals are considered essential, which means our body needs to consume enough of them through food or supplementation or risk injury or death.

Microminerals which include copper, manganese and zinc. These are also referred to as trace minerals or trace elements. We do not need these trace minerals in high amounts like we require macrominerals. Trace minerals can be classified as nutritionally essential, may be essential or non-essential.
